Our Mission

is Active Wilderness Stewardship.

We connect people with America’s wilderness heritage by providing access to and stewardship of one of the world’s most spectacular places – Montana’s Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. We help hundreds of hard-working volunteers of all ages develop a land ethic and give back to the wilderness by opening trails, restoring heavily used areas, maintaining historic structures and fighting weeds.

The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

 

Volunteer Adventures

Whether you’re an avid backpacker who wants to hit the trail with a new group, a life-long visitor to The Bob who wants to lend to its stewardship, or a first time camper who’s comforted by having a trip leader organize logistics, BMWF's volunteer vacations are a great way to get outside and give back to Wilderness. Families and children ages 12+ with adult supervision are welcome.

Planning a Trip?

Exploring new wild places by foot or by horse is an amazing way to reconnect with nature, see breathtaking sights, slow down and decompress. It’s also a challenge. Wilderness demands humility and the forgoing of convenience, and its essential to be prepared with the right gear and knowledge. Here are some important steps to take as you prepare to head into the backcountry.
